A lot of people say this country is a democratic republic. Others argue that we are a constitutional republic. But truthfully, we are a confederated republic. The Confederacy was never meant to be a word drenched in controversy. But yet, it is. It simply meant a league of friendship, a voluntary union of states, a union designed to form a more perfect union. not a perfect domination. It was about state sovereignty and unity through mutual agreement. It was about self-governance, not forced governance. Unity, not control.
This term, confederated, is an important one for us to use as we form our assemblies and teach people about self governance. Short video and very good.
